Academic activity

I served for Japanese Society of Psychiatry and Neurology, JSPN as president. I served Japanese Association of Medical Sciences and Japanese Medical Science Federation as executive secretary. I am honorable member of World Psychiatric Association, WPA. I served for International Society of Bipolar Disorders, ISBD as vice president, Asian Federation of Psychiatric Societies, AFPA as president, and World Federation of Societies of Biological Psychiatry, WFSBP as associate secretary-treasurers.

Government activity

I am currently program supervisor and program officers of Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development and an advisory member of Japan Science and Technology Agency. I serve Tokyo Metropolitan Institute of Medical Science as a director, and I serve/served for Science Council of Japan, Strategy Committee of Health and Medicine of Japanese Cabinet Office, Social Security Committee of Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, Drug and Food Administration, and Brain Science Committee of Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.  I was an advisory member of Japan Society for the Promotion of Science.
